LONG BEACH - In a surprising reversal Thursday, a prosecutor dropped her motion to have identifications made by a key witness in the Halloween beatings of three young white women by a group of black youths.

Bouas explained that the man, whom the Press-Telegram has chosen not to identify for reasons of his safety, changed his mind after his wife saw a taping of the "Geraldo at Large" television show and learned another witness had been the victim of apparent intimidation by a local gang.
