The white sea bass that usually follow the squid migration to Catalina Island in the winter haven't shown up, but maybe it's because the squid are a month early. Typically, our good white sea bass fishing is in November and December.
These days, anglers often use two or three squid on a hook when fishing for white sea bass. When I was a kid on Catalina, the popular bait was a flying fish or large mackerel.
