LONG BEACH - Facing higher targets for student performance, more California schools this year failed to meet state goals on an annual set of standardized tests, but about the same share met federal expectations, according to data released Friday by the California Department of Education.
In the Long Beach Unified School District, 37 schools failed to meet state targets, or about 57 percent of schools for which results were available Friday.
