Eric Rachmany was working the night shift in the Music Department office of Santa Barbara City College, all alone and bored except for the positive vibration coming from his computer, which was playing some of his favorite reggae music.

"Marley B. Williams was in the same program as me," said Rachmany in a phone interview this week. "He came in on a bathroom break from class and said, 'I love reggae music,' and I said, 'OK, cool.' And he said, 'You want to start a band,' and I said, 'Sure, man."'
