Summary


TUNA, NAZIS & NIXON: Throughout most of the first part of August, while the paper breezily declared us to be "on vacation" (we should have asked just exactly where this "vacation" was to have occurred? A mythical tropical isle? An imaginary whirlwind trip through Europe? A totally fabricated adventure along the Blue Nile? Did we bag a bogus hippo?), we were actually holed up in what newspaper people cheerfully call "the morgue" and what people locked helplessly on the outside of this business generally call "the library."

It's where the paper keeps old photos and yellowed, brittle clips, and it was through the former that we spent a couple of weeks browsing, separating the "keepers" from those we would hold in abeyance.
