LONG BEACH - Under mostly sunny skies, while workers in the background stripped the innards from an abandoned rental unit, a group of state lawmakers promised to get together and find solutions for a flood-prone neighborhood in West Long Beach.

Assemblyman Warren Furutani, D-Long Beach, flanked by state Sens. Alan Lowenthal, D-Long Beach, and Rod Wright, D-Inglewood, and 7th District Councilwoman Tonia Reyes Uranga, staged a hastily arranged conference for about 30 wary residents from the area.
