Summary


Sen. Barack Obama got knocked around this week by Sen. Hillary Clinton for "borrowing" another politician's words. But Obama's campaign-trail cribbing does not bother us nearly as much as his outright theft of old-line, outdated and incorrect ideas about trade.

Obama has either missed or chosen to ignore widely available economic evidence about the benefits of the global economy. No matter what the senator from Illinois claims as he seeks Rust Belt votes, the planet is better off today than when North America, Japan and Western Europe manufactured, bought and sold most everything and the Third World remained impoverished.
