Nurses at Catholic Hospitals Reach Settlement On H1n1 Flu Regulations

LONG BEACH - A registered nurses' union threatening to strike over what they said were lax safety regulations for the H1N1 virus has reached a settlement with Catholic Healthcare West, representatives said Monday.

The agreement, which was reached late Friday between the California Nurses Association and the San Francisco-based hospital chain, now requires that the hospitals adopt state safety regulations for protecting health care workers from the H1N1, the swine flu virus, said CNA spokesman Shum Preston.
