LONG BEACH -- Community members, coaches and local businesses are teaming up to raise $190,000 in a campaign to save middle school sports -- and they're more than halfway there.

"We're getting close to the goal but we're going to have to keep pushing and pushing, and then next year we'll start all over again," said Judy Seal, executive director of the Long Beach Education Foundation, which is heading the fundraising campaign.
