LONG BEACH A murder trial took a surprising turn Tuesday when it was suggested that witness intimidation was occurring in the courtroom.

A bailiff for Superior Court Judge Mark Kim testified to seeing courtroom observer Joshua Raeli "motion in a zipping fashion across his mouth,' and later "putting an index finger to the lips in a shushing motion' during testimony in the murder retrial of a Long Beach man whose conviction in a 1993 killing in Belmont Shore was overturned by a federal court.
