LONG BEACH - More than $8 million in federal grants designed to fund traffic safety programs were awarded to the Los Angeles area Friday, including nearly a quarter of a million dollars for Long Beach.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger announced a total of $66 million for 153 law enforcement and public safety agencies statewide.
