Just when things were looking grim for community college students, a gift materializes.
Philanthropist Bernard Osher announced recently that his San Francisco-based foundation will commit $70 million to establish a scholarship fund for California community college students. The Osher Foundation will provide an initial $25 million and then another $25 million if the colleges can match it 2-to-1 over the next three years. An additional $20 million, for students transferring to four-year colleges, would bring the total to $120 million.See the full content of this document
