LONG BEACH -- The city auditor's office may not be one of the most prominent in most voters' eyes, but you couldn't tell by watching the rapt audience at Monday night's debate between City Auditor Gary Burroughs and his challenger, Laura Wilson Doud.
The two candidates challenged each other's integrity, including allegations made against Doud in a campaign flier, during the debate, which was held by the Wrigley Association inside a Veterans Park building. The flier, which was received in some voters' mailboxes Monday, points to a bankruptcy filing by her husband, and claims that she "withheld" reports due to the city as treasurer for Norm Ryan's 2002 mayoral campaign, and that she is "lying to you."See the full content of this document
