LONG BEACH - Amid calls for greater oversight of hazardous liquid and flammable gas pipelines, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed an emergency bill authorizing funds for families that lost homes and loved ones in a Sept. 9 natural gas pipeline explosion near San Francisco.

The bill, authored by state Sen. Leeland Yee, D-San Mateo, allows victims to collect an extra $7,000 in property tax exemptions and reimbursement for work hours lost in the wake of the disaster, which killed eight.
