Fireworks Ban May Go On Ballot in Lakewood

Summary


LAKEWOOD -- A decision on whether to ban fireworks may ultimately come down to thousands of Lakewood voters.

Mayor Joe Esquivel called for a special City Council meeting tonight to see whether the council will place a June ballot measure outlawing all fireworks, including so-called "Safe and Sane," which are deemed by the State Fire Marshal as fireworks that do not blow up or leave the ground. The election could take place either on June 20 or June 27.
