LOS ANGELES A Los Angeles federal judge who intervened in a bankruptcy court case to keep a divorcee from being evicted from her home was cleared of a misconduct allegation by a judicial panel.

The finding means U.S. District Judge Manuel Real, who has held a seat on the federal bench since 1966, will not be subject to penalties that could have included revoking his authority to hear cases.
