The melancholy gray skies were not enough to dampen the moods of thousands of visitors at Cal State Long Beach's 22nd annual Kaleidoscope festival Saturday afternoon.
"Disneyland is really expensive and far away. When you live in Long Beach and have a little kid it's much more convenient to go down to the local carnival and then go home," said Brandon Edwards, who, with wife Millie, brought 4-year-old daughter, Mia, to Kaleidoscope.
