LONG BEACH -- In an effort to offset major cuts in funding under the new state budget, the California State University system next week will consider raising tuition an additional 12 percent by fall.

The increase would amount to another $294 per semester and would bump the annual cost of tuition up to $5,472 for full-time undergraduates.
