Council Declares Impasse in Talks

LONG BEACH - The City Council declared an impasse in Long Beach's negotiations with its engineers union Tuesday night, unilaterally imposing a short-term pension reform in what is likely to be the first of many pension battles to come.

The council voted unanimously to support city management's impasse recommendation and implement the terms of the city's "last, best and final offer" to the Long Beach Association of Engineering Employees, or LBAEE.
