Summary
In 1980, at the age of 31, Larry Jackson was named president and general manager of Long Beach Transit. Under Jackson's watch, the Long Beach Transit Mall was built, the hybrid gasoline/electric buses were put into use, the AquaLink and AquaBus water taxi services were started and free shuttle service in the downtown area was introduced.
