BELLFLOWER - A 26-year-old Bellflower woman accused of starving her pet German shepherd is expected to appear in Bellflower Superior Court on Monday for a preliminary hearing.

Kimberly Nizato pleaded not guilty in May to one charge of felony animal cruelty after her dog Bosco was found emaciated in her Bellflower home, where she lives with her parents. A veterinarian who examined the dog determined there was no evidence of food in his system, but hair, dirt and rocks were found in his stomach, according to a statement from District Attorney's office. The dog reportedly weighed just 37 pounds when he was taken to German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County.
