Long Beach Sends 14 Fire Engine Companies to Help Fight Wildfires

LONG BEACH - The Long Beach Fire Department has sent out a total of 14 fire engine companies carrying 500 gallons of water each to help battle blazes throughout the Southland, officials said today.

The first four engines and two battalion chiefs were sent to the Malibu coast at about 5 a.m. on Sunday, said Long Beach Fire Department spokesman Will Nash. The engines went out as a team with other cities including as Downey, Stanta Fe Springs and Compton.
