LONG BEACH - The Long Beach Board of Education on Tuesday night adopted almost $5 million in cuts and shifts for next year's budget.

The changes include the transfer of $3 million from maintenance to the general fund and five furlough days for nonrepresented employees, such as principals, assistant superintendents and department directors.
