Summary
Thanks to Peggy Heckel of Mutual 6 and her many generous friends and neighbors in Leisure World, the Long Beach Center of Ability First, formerly known as the Crippled Children's Society, now have tables and benches in their garden to enjoy outdoor activities and cookouts. You can recognize Peggy as "Mrs. Santa Claus' in her colorful red and white costume she wears to visit the facility and around Leisure World raising money for her projects.
Peggy has been actively working for the handicapped children and adults for over 30 years. As Mrs. Santa Claus, she compiles and fills a wish list for everyone at the facility at Christmas time. The rest of the year, she celebrates holidays with them and works on filling special needs for the group. Peggy collects money in order to buy needed supplies, materials, furniture and equipment such as a new stove, washer and dryer, a BBQ and couches.
